MORE THAN JUST THE 4C'S

MORE THAN JUST THE 4C'S

As you embark on this journey of finding the perfect ring, we are here to share our expertise and aim to educate & empower you along the way. Let's dive into a few of the factors I believe most important to consider when selecting an engagement ring.

Budget: At Nicholas Haywood Jewellery, we custom make all engagement rings in our in our design gallery. Due to this, we can work within any budget. Providing a rough idea of where you would like to sit regarding spend makes it easier for us to narrow down options that suit your requirements. If you dont have a starting point for a budget, we can give you an idea of where pieces sit within a price range to get you started during your initial consultation with us.

Diamond Cut: The cut of the diamond affects its brilliance and sparkle. Popular cuts include round, oval & emerald. Each cut offers a unique brilliance, so consider the shape that resonates most with your partner's style and personality.

Diamond Clarity: Clarity refers to the presence of imperfections or inclusions within the diamond. A higher clarity grade indicate fewer imperfections, higher up the scale the less imperfections are visible to the naked eye. Strike a balance between clarity and budget to get the best value.

Diamond Colour: Diamond colour is graded on a scale from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). We recommend a colour grade D-G as this is an eye visual component. An eye visual component means you dont need to be a diamond grader to notice a tint of colour. The colour grades I have suggested will ensure that your diamond is a bright white colour.

Diamond Carat Weight: Carat refers to the weight of the diamond. Remember that a larger carat does not necessarily mean a more beautiful stone. Opt for a carat weight that suits your partner's preferences and fits comfortably within your budget. Our mantra here at Nicholas Haywood Jewellery is “Quality over Quantity”.

Metal Choice: Engagement rings come in various metals such as platinum, white gold, yellow gold & rose gold. Consider your partner's style and skin tone to choose the metal that complements them best.
Setting Style: The setting holds the diamond in place and plays a significant role in the overall appearance of the ring. Choose from a classic solitaire, halo, three-stone, vintage, or modern setting based on your partner's taste. During an engagement ring appointment we have many different settings and styles to show you to help inspire your design.
Ring Size: If you want to keep the proposal a surprise, discreetly find out your partner's ring size. Borrowing a ring that you know fits, is a great help in determining the ring size. Alternatively, we can judge a size and discuss resizing options if necessary.
Personal Touches: Consider incorporating unique and personal touches into the ring, such as engravings, accent gemstones, or a special design that symbolises your relationship.
